Amity blushes when asking if it could be a secret club between the two. In the same scene, Luz asks Amity to start a Good Witch Azura book club. In "Adventures in the Elements", she and Luz become friends, Amity is happy that she and Luz might be going to Hexside together. At the end, after Luz risks her life to save her from an altered child book character, and lends her the 5th book of The Good Witch Azura in an attempt to make it up to her, Amity realizes how she acted towards Luz and promises to think on her behavior. This also drives a wedge further between the two when she (hypocritically) calls Luz a bully after she accidentally reads her diary, ironically psychologically projecting her own behavior onto her, when in reality Luz was trying to stop Amity's older siblings from stealing it. In "Lost in Languages", Amity reveals that she was trying to understand Luz but her dim view of genuine friendship prevented her from seeing that she is really a kind and friendly person. Luz then shows an alternative method of spell casting, Amity later undoes the everlasting oath to allow Luz to continue her witch training. But despite Luz's attempts, Amity lashes out, accuses Luz of humiliating her and demands her to say she isn't a witch just so she could have something left. After finding out her mentor, Lilith got her to unknowingly cheat, Amity runs off and Luz chases after her to apologize and comfort her. In "Convention", Luz impetuously challenges Amity to a witch's duel after she destroyed King's cupcake out of a petty act of spite, however Amity accepted on the condition that if she wins Luz must stop learning magic forever and established an everlasting oath to bind the wager. Since then, Amity held a grudge and acted hostile towards Luz and her friends, despite Luz trying to make amends. In "I Was A Teenage Abomination", Amity and Luz meet in Hexside School of Magic and Demonics, where Luz is pretending to be Willow's abomination to pass a class, however this inadvertently caused Amity to lose her "top student" title, and becomes obsessed with getting it back, but in process makes a scene at the school cafeteria and nearly gets Luz dissected by the principal, her embarrassment and failure to get her title back causes her to hate Luz and blame her for the incident (which was mainly caused by her own actions).

From the get go, Amity and Luz had a complicated relationship in the beginning.
